Faculty Resources

Course Reserves

  • Faculty may place any item from the regular circulating collection on reserve. Personal copies of books and videos are also accepted for course reserve. Reference books and journals are generally not placed on reserve.
  • Contact the Instructional Design Team at: idteam@lasalle.edu if you need assistance incorporating copies of journal articles or chapters into your Canvas course. (For more information on Copyright and Fair Use, please visit our Library Guide.)
  • In some cases, Library staff will be able to give you hyperlinks to specific journal articles that can be included in your Canvas courses. Contact:
    • Angie Mancuso-Alven
    • 215-951-1361
    • mancuso@lasalle.edu
  • Material may be placed on reserve anytime during the year. Please allow at least one week for staff to process a reserve request.
  • To place an item on reserve, please complete a Course Reserves Form.

Borrowing Books

  • Faculty may check out books for an entire semester and borrow DVDs for extended periods. Faculty do not incur library fines upon returning overdue library material.
  • Faculty may also allow students in their class to check out material on their behalf by completing a Proxy Borrower Form. The form must be filled out and signed by both the faculty member allowing the privileges as well as the student being assigned the privileges. Material checked out by a proxy is subject to the same replacement charges as material checked out by the faculty member should it not be returned.

Scheduling a Classroom

The New Instruction Classroom is located at the 1st floor entrance of Connelly Library. The room can accommodate approximately 30 students and is equipped with a projector and podium. Any faculty needing the room should contact Louise Erwin at 215-991-3791 or erwin@lasalle.edu. The primary use of the Instruction Classroom is for Bibliographic Instruction and the librarians have priority for booking the classroom. Our policy is that any reservation is considered tentative until 2 weeks prior to the date scheduled. If the reference librarians need the classroom for Bibliographic Instruction, we will contact you to reschedule your time. Within 2 weeks of your scheduled time, you will not be bumped from your reservation. Our policy does not allow for wholesale booking of the classroom for an entire semester.

Instructional Support

Librarians are available to help faculty incorporate Institutional Learning Outcomes into their research assignments.  We also can collaborate with faculty on embedding information literacy concepts into their courses and making suggestions for using relevant library resources.

Our instruction services include:

  • Formal classroom instruction
  • Course Related/Assignment Specific Instruction
  • In-Class Presentations
  • Hands-On Exercises

Classroom instruction should be scheduled at least two weeks in advance to ensure the use of the Library classroom and allow time for dialog between faculty and teaching librarians.

A librarian will work with you to plan and deliver instruction relevant to your course and student research assignment.

A response to your request will be provided within 2 to 3 working days.
