LibKey Nomad

The best way to use Google Scholar is with LibKey Nomad -- see the information on this page and view the video

If you set up LibKey Nomad, you do not have to follow the instructions below.

Linking to Connelly Library Resources

Want to use Google Scholar to find articles at Connelly Library of La Salle University?

  1. If you already have an account with Google, click "Sign In" at the top right of the screen, and log in on the next screen.

  2. If you do not have an account with Google, create a free one at the top right of the screen. Click "Sign In" at the trop right of the screen, and then create a free account using the link directly above the log-in box, and then "Sign In" as above.  Note: This does not require that you have a Gmail email account.  (You can use Google Scholar without creating an account, but your settings will not be saved)

  3. Once you are logged in, click on  the "hamburger" icon at the top left and then the "gear" icon for Scholar Settings undefined
  4. Click on "Library Links" (about halfway down the page). If  "La Salle University" is not checked off as an option, type it into the box and search for the university. Once it has been located through the search, click the checkbox for La Salle University Library - LibKey and any other libraries you wish to designate (up to a maximum of 3). Save your settings (You must have cookies enabled)

  5. Now Click on "Search Results" - go to to Bibliography Manager and set your "Show links to import citations into" and choose RefWorks (find out more about RefWorks here). Set any other preferences you may want on this page.  Save your settings (You must have cookies enabled)

When you run searches in Google Scholar, you MAY see the LibKey link (as words not the icon) to the right of the citation.  (It does not always appear). Click on it to be linked to our holdings or to create an Interlibrary Loan form to request material from another library.  Please note that if you are on on-campus, the LibKey links should already be set up by default.

Also be aware that if an article appearing in a Google Scholar search is in a journal where we have subscription access from certain publishers you may just be able to click on the citation title to view it  (since the La Salle IP address will be recognized) and not have to use LibKey. (which may not appear). (This will not happen off-campus however.)  If the words LibKey do not appear in the right hand column, click MORE Or << and click the link which says Check Library Holdings. This is a free service and we have little control over how things display.

If there is no "LibKey" or Check Library Holdings link,  use the Advanced Summon screen OR search the E-Journal Portal  for the book or journal name to check whether we have a print or electronic version of the book or journal. (Only use the e-Journal portal for journals not books) DO NOT PAY FOR ANY ARTICLE!!

If the Connelly Library does not own the book or journal, you can request a copy through Interlibrary Loan services.  LibKey has an ILL form attached to it.
