Q&A

What is Summon?

Summon is a simple and fast search engine that helps you discover relevant information on any topic from the La Salle University Library collections. It is a great place to start your research in scholarly journal, magazine and newspaper articles, books, videos, audiofiles and more. From your search results, it's one step to the full text of articles or you can see if a book is on the shelf.

Summon is still growing. Features continue to improve, and more content is being added regularly.

What is in Summon?

Lots and lots of citations and full text of scholarly materials, which La Salle Unversity owns or provides access to, are in Summon now, including articles from 71,974 electronic journals, links to e-books, streaming audiofiles from Naxos, and our Library catalog records.

What about material not owned by La Salle  University Library?

You also have the option to choose "Add results beyond your library's collection" to see resources we do not own, but can usually get for you on ILL or EZBorrow.

How do I use Summon?

Use the single search box to start and then use the Refine your Search using the options on the left, such as content type, subject or date. For a more specific search, by author or journal title for example, use the Advanced Search option. See the Help link for more search tips that will make your search more precise.

Can I still use the Databases I have always used?

Of course you can!  They are still available and may very well be the right choice for your particular research project.
