American Studies - American Decades: Books/E-Books

Books

Looking for  books? Connelly Library catalog

Use the Connelly Library Catalog - doing a Keyword search will locate books which use that term in the titles, in chapter headings and in subject headings.  The catalog record gives you floor locations and call numbers to help you locate the book.  If the book is an electronic book, there will be a link to the full text.

If you look at the bibliographies at the end of the reference or e-reference resources, you may find a list of further readings.  Look those books up in the catalog using a Title search.

Some other hints:

  • Each decade can be searched for books by doing a Subject search- e.g. nineteen tens, nineteen thirties, nineteen sixties etc.  This will not give you all the books covering everything in those decades - just books covering the decade as a whole
  • To find collections of primary documents use the subheading   -sources thus  nineteen sixties - sources or great depression sources. You can try these searches as either subject or keyword searches.

Use the LibGuide linked in the box to the right to find e-books, which are mostly NOT in the Connelly Library Catalog

E-Books

Use this guide: FINDING E-BOOKS

to locate e-books, which are mostly NOT in the Connelly Library Catalog

Google Books

Here is a way to search inside books.  In some cases you can read the full text of the book online, but in most cases you must get the book in a library.  You can click on the Find in Library link to see if La Salle University owns the book.  If we don't have it, just use EZ Borrow
